If-clauses type I

• Typ I beschreibt eine reale, mögliche Bedingung: Die Folge tritt ein, wenn die Bedingung erfüllt wird.
• Bauplan: if + Simple Present , will + Infinitiv. If it rains, we will cancel the trip.
• Statt „will“ sind auch andere Formen möglich: can, may, must oder ein Imperativ – If you see him, tell him to call me.
• Deutsch: „Wenn es regnet, sagen wir die Fahrt ab.“ Das Deutsche benutzt in beiden Teilen das Präsens – deshalb entsteht der Fehler „If it will rain“.
• unless heißt „wenn nicht“ und ersetzt „if … not“: Unless you hurry, you'll miss the bus.
• Typ I ist die häufigste Form im Alltag: Versprechen, Warnungen, Pläne.
